Phi Eta Sigma

Reasons to Join

Why join Phi Eta Sigma?

Excellence. Phi ETA SIGMA was established at Brigham Young University to:
(1) recognize and reward freshmen for their high moral standards and exceptional academic achievement, and

(2)  provide opportunities for PES members to share their expertise through campus, community, and national activities.

Scholarships. By establishing a lifetime membership in Phi Eta Sigma, you help support scholarships, fellowships, and special awards at Brigham Young University. The BYU Chapter of Phi Eta Sigma usually awards 3 to5 $250 to 500 scholaships each year. Additionally, members are eligible and encouraged to apply for PES national scholarships, ranging from $1,000 to $10,000.

Service Opportunities. The BYU Phi Eta Sigma Chapter organizes a service project each year, and recommends that members continually serve through the BYU Service and Learning Center.

Leadership Opportunities. Each year the BYU Chapter of Phi Eta Sigma looks for outstanding leaders to serve on the executive committee. Some of these leaders are then able to attend that National Convention held every 2 years.

Honoraria. Our chapter organizes and supports the selection of one Phi Eta Sigma Faculty Excellence Award each year, reconizing a faculty member for their excellent work with the freshman class.

This is just the beginning. Your academic excellence thus far has started you on a path toward future academic rewards. The BYU Phi Eta Sigma Chapter is closely tied to the BYU Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest, largest, and most selective all-discipline honor society.
